Childhood Education

Sequence One of the Childhood Education MSEd program is designed for those who have completed the course requirements for initial certification in childhood education from the New York State Department of Education. Upon satisfactory completion of the program, students will have met the academic requirements for professional certification in childhood education.   

The program will foster and enhance students' competence in teaching, understanding of current educational research and theory, and knowledge in selected areas of the liberal arts and sciences. It appreciates and recognizes that education occurs across the lifespan in a variety of settings, and its courses reflect these understandings, work to foster these dispositions in students, and actualize these perspectives in practice.  

Students may select a concentration from the following areas: learning and development, literacy education, mathematics education, music education, science education, social foundations of education, and social studies education or pursue a multidisciplinary program.
