Modeling of discrete and continuous alphabet data, quantitative methods for model comparison, learning algorithms for data modeling, data models in practice, lossless : (Huffman coding, arithmetic coding, Lempel-Ziv coding, run length coding, data transformations such as the Burrows-Wheeler transform) and lossy compression .
