Description

As part of this course students will be placed in a program-approved hospital, clinic or community-based mental health fieldwork setting 200 clock hours, including at least 80 hours of direct contact with actual contacts.  This course, in conjunction with PSY 782 and PSY 783, accounts for the sum of 600 clock hours needed of program fieldwork necessary for licensure as a Mental Health Counselor in New York, of which 240 consists of client-contact hours.  Appropriate student liability insurance must be obtained, and field placement contracts must be signed before beginning the placement.  Students are expected to gain familiarity and to act in accordance with the ACA Code of Ethics at all times.  Prerequisite:  Acceptance into the Master's in Mental Health Counseling Program and PSY 740.
